Leon Orbach
Leon is a lifelong Zionist whose journey began as a passionate member of Habonim Dror and a chaver of Kibbutz Yizreel. The involvement of his daughters in Hashomer reignited his commitment to Zionist activism, deepening his engagement with youth movements and like-minded adult organisations globally, serving the community for over 40 years on the Board of Directors for Beit Anielewicz Hashomer Hatzair and as President of Meretz Australia. Leon serves as a representative at Zionism Victoria and the Zionist Federation Australia.
Leon is dedicated to strengthening the Jewish connection to Israel, history, and shared values. His activism is driven by a deep love of Israel, his Jewish identity, and an unshakable belief in building a just and inclusive society. Since Pesach 2024, Leon has chosen to stop grooming in solidarity with the hostages still in captivity—a daily, personal act of protest and remembrance. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he brings a deeply human perspective to his vision of Israel as a light unto the nations: a free and open society that aspires to live in harmony with its neighbours.
